Yes, I know it's not spam because I used to be in your position.

I am now in the HKU ActuarSc programme.

I wonder what you would like to know.

Just to answer a few doubts you've pointed out earlier.

CUHK is trilingual, not bilingual. But of course, you would be given the priority to choose all of the courses to be in English, if you aren't local.

I guess you're going in with Singapore GCE A levels?

CUHK's IFAA programme welcomes GCE, because I was accepted with merely GCE O levels as an EAS (Early Admission Scheme) student. But I am not certain of the cutoff because I applied with 10A1s. But I don't think they would downgrade it very much because I was offered scholarship equivalent to what locals with 10 HKCEE A's would get.

As for HKU's BSc(AC), I am less certain. As I said, I have a full cert but I was offered no scholarship. So the cut-off may be a little higher.

That's for the admission requirement that I know off.

Academic wise, if you were to refer to the programme webpage, you would be able to see that HKU's programme is more technical, as it's a STAT programme.

As for CUHK's programme, I feel it's somewhat like NTU's ActuarSc programme since it's part of the business faculty. So if you're more interested in a more diversified programme, I think you should consider between CUHK and NTU.

Now, moving on to my personal opinion on HKU's programme. Given your interest in ActuarSc, I am certain that you should have a good grasp of GCE Math, be it O levels' E and A Math as well as A levels' H2 or even H3 math. Well, for us, coping in HKU is not as easy as it seemed in Singapore. Academic wise, I would say that we'd be rather lost, at least in year 1. HKU's programme is somewhat a continuation of secondary education. Well, how should I put it, the kind of education it provides you isn't what we've encountered in the past. Be prepared to "mug like mad".

Next, maybe I'd give you a little preview of U life if you were to come to HKU AC. As you may've known, it's the top programme in HK (if we were to consider solely HKAL subjects) so it receives the top students from all over HK as well as Mainland China. Mind you, These scholars from Mainland China are far superior than those we've met in Sec Sch - for one, they are 高考 tops, as opposed to 中考 tops. Also, they've done year 0 in China...

Well, after saying so much, I am not trying to discourage you. Indeed, HKU's programme is very prestigious, which is why I have chosen it over CUHK's IFAA. But just to remind you to bear in mind that there is a price to pay.

Life would be tough. Very tough, indeed. I am saying this, again, not to discourage you, really. But I guess this is something you should consider. I have once wondered, why no one has ever bothered to mention about the negative side of it.

OK, sorry for being a little negative. I've flunked year 1 quite badly. And I would be deeply sorry if HKU forfeits your opportunity due to this bad example of a Singapore "top" student they have here.

Gosh, like why am I so negative. I'm so sorry if I've given you too poor an impression of HKU!!! And coincidentally, I am a student ambassador... @@"

But then... Well, I guess it's OK, since I am sending you this email on my own accord.

HEY EVERYONE! Haha! I'm glad I still remembered the username and password to this blog! I'm sorry for not updating here, but now I am :)

Well, just to update what I've been doing recently:
Watching 溏心风暴之家好月圆！Ohman, it's really very nice! Sg-produced dramas are definitely not on par with HK dramas! I think the difference lies in the latter's ability to evoke emotions in the audience. Really, it's so addictive my momma and I were glued to the computer screen for hours! Although I feel like I'm wasting time by watching drama, it makes me happy ;) Oh and I went shopping.. finally... and spent a lot of money... I feel like I need a job again. But still, I'll only get a stable job after collecting results. Speaking of getting results, I still need to go pay my library fines. Hmmm, besides all these, I'm having my driving lessons soon~ Hope I wouldn't be a safety threat :P Hmmmmmmmm, I'm still procrastinating piano practices even though it's the holidays :(

Haheho… Haven't blog here for quite a while le. So sorry about it (though I still come here often to check out on new posts). What are the other two keys doing??!! Haha…

Hmm… I'm still looking for jobs. Joined 4 agencies and submitted more than ten resumes but nothing came back. Sob~

Anyway, I just rot at home everything. Besides surfing the net, I learn Korean la. Initially I wanted to attend Korean classes but my family doesn't support me. Fine, I shall learn by my own then. =) Today, I'll go register for driving course with my cousin.

I think most probably we will receive our results in early March.

Valentine's day on this Saturday but I have no valentine and I'll be spending my day in suntec city convention centre for NTU talks. -.-"

this blog is very dead. so i decide to write something before it starts to rot.

haha... had a very interesting convo last night. arthur, charles, phy and me~!

phy was asking me stuff about AC at first then somethings i dont wanna be biased to i added the 1 classmates of mine lor... lol...

then we chatted from 11+ to almost 2.

but somehow i manage to wake up at 8+ despite the fact that i actually have no lessons at all... zzz...

since i woke so super early, i decided to make a trip to campus bookstore to buy textbooks.

hey you know what, this sem appears just so optimistic for me. for once i am seeing some things that i have expected myself to learn to so long. unlike what happened in sem 1... zzz...

hai but then... week 1 ending le... i think the schedule will start to be packed really soon. plus results out soon also. so sian. 19 jan... this will be 1/18 of my honours. then charles was like telling phyllis to ask him qns after 19 jan... sounds optimistic really. on the other hand, i preferred phyllis to ask me asap b4 i am discouraged so that i wont fill her in with all the wrong infor... dottsss...

it's annoying to see the money in ur bank acc keeps decreasing and u can do nth abt it. currently, the transport fare increase. simple going to orchard and then back cost me around $4. is 4 times more than wat i used to pay. so... since i cant make money, i decided to save them.
it's amazing in a way that by not going to any of my class outings, (except those which i do not need to pay) i managed to save around $70. not a small amount to me.....
ytd was my first day of job hunting. but economic is bad so it's harder than i tot.
i cant stand myself doing nth at home and wasting resources. luckily today is sat, so at least i can give myself an excuse for nuahing at home. but i am still mood-mood de.
oh.... btw i need to thx all my sec sch friends who accompany me ytd when i am not feeling too well. lili for ur 'exercise' and puzzle bubble and vanessa for pei-ing me find job when she alrdy had one and i feel reali guilty for being late.

secondary sch outing today.

lili was stoning the whole day. and then it was me. i dunno why. maybe coz of lili but i am so damn tired today. my eyes hurt and i cant reali open them. we were suppose to shop but then we went looking for seats to nuah..... sosososo tired. yawn

i have not met my sec sch friends for 1 yr+. they change a lot. esp the gals. i look like a nerd with them. all the gals remove their specs and started wearing contacts. and clothes. much much much more trendy. maybe i should start thinking abt how i should dress up myself now. my friends said that gals at our age are suppose to wear nicer and look nicer. hmmmmmm

we were chit chatting at this place outside NLB.
it was damn stupid. we were mistaken to be terrorists. we were monitored by the security guards for like 1 hr+ then finally they decided to tell us to leave. first they say we a grp of ppl there were too aa. so they tell us to seperate ourselves. but i dun understand why when there were other ppl there gathering. then they say we looked suspicious. in the end they still want to call the police.
why? coz we are taking pics? holding cameras? and the cameras could be a bomb or it could be a switch to the bomb? wow. or. we suggested that they are targetting at ppl who look innocent coz they think that the terrorists might use reverse psyco.
so for the first time ever, it could be the last oso. i am mistaken to be a terrorist. it's reali a once in a life time experience. but i guess u would rather not have such an experience.

first observation of my new house is that, it has a lot of centipedes. is disgusting de lor. so on the ground floor, either can see a lot of centipedes crawling around or see a lot of squashed dead centipede. is really disgusting de lor. there's a bball court rite in front of my block. actually i was thinking of inviting my friends come my new house see see then the boys if they want can go play bball. then gals can play badmintion...... very bored can go catch (or count) centipedes.....hmmmmmmmmm.... should i?

2nd day of packing

i have found a way to clear all my notes. i am giving them all to my friend zai, hu will be taking a lvl next yr. yea.
today i juz manage to pack one box of books. i am reali very very very slow. nuahing everyday. i wake up at 9 but went back to sleep from 11 to 1 again. shi bai. then at 2 i go play maple. ytd i found out afternoon got double exp, i only played for two hours but seems like.... dunno how long le. sianzzzzzzzzz. Zzzzzzzzzzz....
after that i got this job briefing. i was quite stoning there. nv really understand wat the person toking abt. but i rmb she said that she is very good. erm... ok.... oh... sasa was with me... before and after the tok, we had a very interesting conver.
we are actually toking abt bgr. i always tot that sasa is quite boyish so she nv reali think of that.... anw. that's not impt. so she reminds me that now i am XX yrs old. then i still dun have bf. then after that all my 'boy-friends' would be gone. so dun have 'boy-friends' le. so that means i would not have bf until i am XX + 2 yrs old!!!!!!!!!!!!! omg!!!!!!!!!! that's very old ler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

today i saw a lot of items which i haven seen for XXX yrs. it feels funny and weird. esp some of my photos. haha. hmm. if i am not wrong from pri 3 - pri 6 is the ugliest time of my life ba. ya. so during that period of time i am quite ugly. erm.. (it's juz very bad) my hair is always in a mess. my specs are two round round big big circles. so i look like a ugly nerd. ya. quite pathetic (i mean very...) i rmb that time whenever my better friends saw me they would: hey next time when you wanna choose specs, i can help u choose.... i finally understand why my classmates kept laughing at me when i first started wearing my specs (initially i always tot that it is because they are not used to seeing me in specs).

but i will keep the photos. will show it to the other keys. =)

i am moving house! to Buangkok somewhere near sengkang. today the guys in my class volunteer to help me move house. IMBA~~~~~~ but i am not sure how they can help since we have already employed professional 'house movers'. but still. quite unexpected.

after today's mini class gathering, i wun be joining any more events until i've moved my house. hai. sian. my mum is quite pissed off with me coz it seems to her that i have not done anything which i am supposed to do. 1) sell my old furniture 2) pack my stuff

that is not true.

for the past 1 week i am bz selling all my old furniture in ebay. and i have found some buyers. i have contact them and asked them to arrange a time with me to collect their items but hai... they haven reply yet. but my mum is getting impatient. so.... hai... everyday i would need to suffer from the nagging from both my mum and dad for being not pro-active in selling my furniture. =.=

but then. my room is still in a mess with clothes and blah blah blah everywhere. my prom dress is somewhere in the mess. coz i said i would hand-wash it myself so it has to wait in the pile of ____ until i am free to wash it. other than clothes, there are oso piles of worksheets. mostly JC stuff which i would normally throw away. but after a lvl my friend said she would keep all these jus in case she din do well for A then retake. ok, good suggestion. i would do the same then. but...but.... looking at the piles of paper, i reali wanna juz throw them away. *headache*

if i were to keep them, i would need to arrange them properly and file them nicely and..... it would be tiring. hai. that's wat i will be stucked at doing for that next few days.

after after prom. minor realise minor did something reali incredible, which is to wear a dress and apply make up all over my face. argh! it's painful. now some parts of my skin is peeling.....
and argh! so after after prom i realise this too:

A level examinations are finally over! I told myself: yes we are free now. And I have a lot of things that I want to do. These are some of the things that I've planned ever since the examinations period:

1) Chiong to the library to borrow my favourite Chinese novels and of course Korean learning books. =P

2) (Window) shopping. Prepare for prom.

3) Exercise!!! My butt is becoming rounder and rounder. -.-" been sticking to my chair like siao.

4) Learn cooking from my ah ma. I think someday I'll become housewife so better learn them now.

5) Watch dramas!! Currently watching the Japanese drama Hana yori dango.

6) Go out with my friends.

7) K-boxing.

well i would not say that i will miss this class a lot or miss this place a lot. no this is so not me. This is not in me. since ppl say that i 男子气, say that i'm 男人的知心姐姐 (acc to 老聂) or 女人中的大姐大 (大嫂，you were not the 1st. serious.) so seriously, i am not the sentimental kind of person. Hey! I'll talk about my hamsters.

I have 3 of them. Bought them around one or two weeks ago. They're of pudding breed, so their names are Mango, Lychee and Apple.. So when you join their breed with their names, they become Mango pudding, Lychee pudding and Apple pudding. Cute breed huh? =D And they are absolutely cute too!

Actually I didn't really 'appreciate' hamsters until I start to keep them. Watching them is really fun, and their actions are really adorable! OK, I have 2 smaller ones and 1 big one. The smaller ones are 3 wks old and the older's 3 months old. Brought from 2 different stalls. And the thing is, we didnt know we shouldnt have put them together in a cage cus they differentiate one another by smell, and cant get along if they smell different. So they got along quite ok for the first few days.. snuggling up close to one another and playing together. But after that, the bigger one started bullying the smaller ones! Once, I saw Apple going up the 'tube' that links the first storey to the second storey, but hurried down when it saw Mango (the bigger one) blocking the entrance. Mango just raced after Apple and pinned it down. Apple was struggling and squeaking, but it was hard to separate them. In the end, Mango was finally 'caught' by my mum and it was placed in a container. And Apple got its leg injured. It was bleeding. And patches of fur were missing from its body because of the fight. It really pained me..super sad la! Lychee then went to lick Apple's wound and sayang-ed it. Anyway, Mango was imprisoned in a container for a while and it now has its own cage. Mango's super fierce and playful... but I guess it's still cute.

Ok, end of story.

Argh, am so busy these few weeks. Wanna go shopping but still can't. Yay, amazing race is over. Thanks everyone for your efforts =D

i think. maple is boring. i am daoing so my maple is dying. hai. actually i wanna noe how it would be like to train until lvl very high. ok give up. here am i protecting the wildlife. there am i killing animals and plants..... zzz i really very shibai. play maple this type of no brain game oso play until like that. hai....... wonder how ppl can train until lvl so high. and the guys in my class are IMBA. one week to lvl 134 =.= but they dun wanna help me train. oh well... the gals in my class all nv play.... hai. very sleepy. finally get rid of bf. but going quit game le. =.=

sec sch and me

i love my sec sch. coz there got a lot of gals. so there are a lot of good friends and best friends. and i have many lao po there. we are all pure and innocent(seriously) more innocent than many gals in my current class. there is no bgr in our world. we slack and mug tgt. we are cute, sweet and lively. and we are so so so so happy that we have each other. teachers there oso very nice. i think i spent my most wonderful days there. so today when my sch gets to band 1 i am veryveryveryveryveryvery happy. really very happy. i am sooooooooooooo proud of my sec sch and of coz my juniors. actually they dun perform as good as us for their exams but they say they last min chiong like siao. (reason: to get to vj. it's a pity. hai) then ppl from grade d jump to a. seems like a miracle to the teachers. haha. they are so smart! i really would like to join in the celebration with them. simply cant wait to go back on cny ^^

all of us come up with a proposal each by mon, since all of us have an idea now. we choose the best and try to improve from it. then it should take less time. if not, it's quite difficult for so many ppl to come together to discuss.
2) CONTACTING THE RELEVANT AUTHORITIES within 1 week by end of wk 3
this should be quite easy, provided with a good proposal. since the organisaton is the beneficiary, we should contact them first. so it'll be more convincing for the school to provide us with the sum of money.
3) PREPARATION OF EVENT time? depends on what we're doing... so it's an uncertainty
4) ACTUAL EVENT mid feb right? ok then we'll work towards that.

Hi! I've been enjoying my holiday, totally in the play-before-homework kind of mood! I have been spending these days going out, watching TV, playing with my brother, doing last-minute piano practices and homework (bit by bit, really bit by bit). I was super ambitious la - I planned to complete all my homework by Nov; and now I plan to complete it by this Sat, before leaving for Thailand. Pretty excited about Thailand, cus I'm gonna go shopping =D Hope I can see things I like! Heard that Thai massages are nice too +D I like pineapple rice three ^^

C and minor have already finished CLL PROJECT!!! And the rest of us are still collecting info and d-e-l-a-y-i-n-g. This is bad. But JR's coming back soon... in fact, today =D

我整理了思绪，也想通了。

我小时候一直都有个小小的梦想，我想存很多很多钱。我每年都要存一点钱进我存折。虽然我的存折的钱不多，但它一直都是我的骄傲。

长大了，我忘我的小梦想。虽然我头脑忘了，我的心却牢牢记得。因此每当我的存款越变越少是，我的心就会莫名的痛。起初我答应花我的存款是因为父母答应我花了多少他们就会加多少。没想到他们却忘了。

我存折里越来越没钱了，我的心也就越来越痛了。我要向父母要回我的钱，要我存了10年的钱。

结果，我被骂了。

我妈很不以为然地说：“你就是太在乎钱了。就算你存折里没钱，就算里面有很多钱，最后里面的钱还不是花在你身上”。我找不到任何话来反驳，我想我默认了。

但是我可以感觉到我内心的某一处是气愤的，疼痛的。但我不知我在气什么。

最后，我妈很不耐烦地给了我三百块，就去睡觉了。

我想：我真的那么在乎钱吗？

我终于知道我要什么了。我想到了我的小梦想,　想到第一次拿到存折的兴奋，想到每次存钱的喜悦，想到了我曾下定决心要存很多很多钱。

我欣慰，因为我知道我不是一个只会向父母要钱的孩子。其实我一直都被我的小梦想给绑住，而自己没察觉。我知道我在气什么了。如果我存折真的没钱了，我的梦想与期望应该就会破灭。

结果我的梦想与期望还是会破灭，而我妈又再一次误解我了。在她眼里，我就是个要钱与在乎钱的孩子。最后她竟然还拿三百块来打发我... ...

有人这样对我说过：“世界上唯能伤害你的人就是你在乎的人”。

那么，是否越在乎就伤得越深？

那么，如果我说那人是我妈呢？

我想我能明白为什么我只在我妈面前哭了。这已经不是第一次了... ...

Hi!

I've been rotting these few days, had wanted to start on Holiday assignments but there's this thing called inertia. Hmm. Let's see what I've been doing...
1) Finished watching why why love - quite nice, but it's very fairytale-ish
2) CCA - playing with kids. Most were really playful, but I really like a few of them, one or two actually =D
3) Class gathering - quite fun I guess.
4) Nothing else I think

Oh yes, I went to IKEA. Things there are quite nice, and affordable =)
Tried the meatballs.... ok la, not very nice also. The cheesecake is nicer. I really like their system of how customers purchase food. It's convenient and efficient. I think the person/persons who came up with this idea is/are brilliant =D I admire creative and intelligent people! Hoho, bought a circular box with another 11 circular boxes inside.

Currently, I'm trying to transfer ALL the files from the other coms to my laptop. And that is really tedious, because my thumbdrive and CD can't fit even 1/5 of the stuff. Actually, I used to save a lot of random stuff, besides files in the com of course, and it's nice to look at them now and reminisce and smile =) , especially the many many cards and letters penned with genuine sincerity.

From primary school till now, I've been keeping and collecting (a nicer word) loads of things, for 纪念, and I think I keep thinking that almost everything is worth keeping. That's why the number of my drawers and containers and shelves keep increasing, and my mum keeps complaining. =D

Occasionally, when I tidy my stuff, I take a look at those things left from the past. It is quite sad to think that we couldnt keep and maintain all the friendships we've built, simply because out of sight, out of mind, and we don't usually do so when we say "Let's keep in contact." But still, it is really heartwarming to recall the childish moments we used to share from the letters we wrote, the friendship bands we made for one another, the bookmarks designed together, the stickers we exchanged. Many many moments, waiting to be called upon, after collecting dust in the back of our brains for so long; because we seldom sit quietly and remember things, especially in the midst of struggling in our super hectic lives.

Really, what seemed really important then seems so insignificant now. And I miss some things I've took for granted in the past.

Yeh.

I'm trying to end with something philosophical, but I can't think of any.

yea! today i went to the market with my family * as usual * and the thing that i did which made me proud of myself was the fact that i carried 1.8 x 6 of stuff! yea! lol what is it? lol i dont feel like telling. lol yesterday, i watched CAST AWAY starring TOM HANKS with my family. these are some of our comments as we watched the show...

it is a low cost production
where is that awesome island...it is like a paradise!
it teaches u a lot of skills which are essential for survival
humans are interactive animals = we need to interact with others * therefore the need for WILSON*
we are fortunate to be able to drink portable water from the tap, go to the supermarket for food and just turn the knob for fire and having stacks of clothes in our cupboard etc.

and most importantly... TOM HANKS is a GREAT ACTOR!!!

this is an eg of a good movie... an educational one or u can cal it inspirational. lol wonder why they always put good movies at the midnight slot. haiz this world is ironic. they want the young to learn good values and they forbid us from watching violent movies and all yet they dont air these good movies for the sake of the future generation... why? cos the 6-11pm slot is the time with the highest no. of viewers which means they are commercialised.

earning $$ is more impt then teaching ppl.

ok i get it. this is depressing. in a time when the media plays an important role in our life; the reports of the charity org along with the reports of chaos in pakistan and protests in KL isnt helping. I cant help but wonder what would the world be like 5 or 10 years down the road when the prices of commodities, the health of the world isnt improving and world politics starts to get too confusing for mundane ppl like me to understand. * sad *

as the next generation who will be paying taxes, i feel that we must do something... but it will take a long time. this can be seen from the fact that only after 50 years, ppl started noticing about the warning... the EARTH IS DYING warning...

to end on a slightly cheery note. i think the class outing were fun but i guess it would be a long time till the next outing. to all those who had made the outings fun and enjoyable.

lol lately, i am on a food rampage. there was one day when i had 4 pieces of wholemeal bread for breakfast. lol no kidding. * here is the lame part * while i was eating, i decided to check out what nutrition did i gain from eating all that bread. so here goes....

Anyway, went for theory today, 5 marks for one German phrase can! I have never seen that in my whole life, and so gave a super irelevant answer which I later thought was really stupid -.- Hehs, hmmmm, then walked around, at the same time smsing Amaj about what I was doing and my locations. =D Muahhaha, I finally bought jumping clay and the accessory set for it. I also bought varnish, 2 bears (one for moi, one for my sister) and scotchtape. Went to the library after that and borrowed books. My sister went to Sembawang library and borrowed 16 books -.-
